Governor Scott sent a heckuva letter to the state’s public universities yesterday in which he basically said, “Thou shalt focus yourselves and your students on academic programs that lead to jobs.”
FSU can positively respond to this call by focusing on reversing Florida’s vexing decline in the share of bachelors’ degrees in science and engineering being earned by black students. We know what to do – we just need to do it.
And now – with the final stages of the Provost search imminent and a strategic plan in process – is a great time to make that commitment.
