Number of FSU black engineering graduates plunges over last ten years

The number of black students earning bachelors’ degrees in engineering at FSU plunged over the last decade.  Ninety-six bachelors’ degrees in engineering were awarded to black FSU students during the five academic years from 2009-2010 to 2013-2014, compared to 169 during the five prior academic years (2004-2005 to 2008-2009) – a 43% decrease.

Overall, FSU awarded 1,358 bachelors’ degrees in engineering from 2009-2010 to 2013-2014, a 10.5% increase over the previous five years (1,229).

That rate of growth in FSU engineering bachelors’ degrees is slower than the corresponding growth rate for all degrees at the institution, which was 13.0%.
