One of the privileges of being an educational policy hobbyist with a blog is that if I think it’s interesting I can get down into the weeds – WAY down into the weeds. Like with the discussion of exactly how AP performance will be counted in Florida’s new high school grading scheme and what it tells us about the priorities of the state’s educational leaders. Is it just a detail? Sure it is.
The big question is this: What opportunities will our state provide for our brightest kids – the ones in the top quartile? Some of those kids, a group from Orlando Science Schools at this fall’s FSU Future Physicists of Florida induction ceremony, are smiling at you below. What should we do for them?
