Florida TaxWatch has sent its members two op-eds published in the Tallahassee Democrat last Sunday. One was written by middle school math teacher and Leon School Board candidate Alva Swofford Striplin, while the other was written by (wait for it) me.
While both pieces seem to support moving forward with the Common Core Standards, Striplin’s piece stops short of calling for a multistate assessment program.
In contrast, I focus on the importance of Florida competing with the top states like Massachusetts.
It will be interesting to see how the business-oriented TaxWatch membership reacts to the two pieces.
