Update (4:00 am Friday): Travis Pillow’s report in the Tallahassee Democrat is here.
While the Tallahassee stop on the Florida Education Commissioner’s Common Core tour was relatively reasonable, with few mentions of communism, the USSR and the NSA, Jeb Bush railed against Common Core opponents at a conference in Boston, saying “Criticisms and conspiracy theories are easy attention grabbers.”
Of the three stops on Commissioner Stewart’s Common Core tour, the second stop – last night in Davie – was clearly the most rambunctious. Tonight’s session in Tallahassee was notable for its civility. The Tallahassee session was attended by activists from as far east as Jacksonville and as far west as Navarre.
The Tallahassee Democrat’s Travis Pillow, the young education reporter who has earned respect from the state’s well-established education reporting corps, tweeted from the meeting room at Tallahassee Community College and will probably publish the most complete report on tonight’s forum in tomorrow morning’s edition.
The Bush speech was reported on by Ron Matus at redefinedonline.org.
