It’s not done in Kentucky yet.
Evolution and climate change education opponents clashed with Next Generation Science Standards advocates on Tuesday at a hearing on the standards held by the Kentucky Department of Education. (Coverage from the Louisville Courier-Journal here) The hearing was the first public test in Kentucky for the standards since the State Board of Education recommended adoption in early June.
The standards will have to be approved by the Kentucky Legislature during its 2014 session, and opposition has already surfaced there in the person of the Chair of the Senate Education Committee.
Kentucky is one of 26 lead state partners in the development of the NGSS.
