NSTA President on NAEP in Education Week: Meh.

From Education Week, NSTA President Gerry Wheeler on the two point improvement in the national scale score average:

“I’m disappointed,” said Gerry Wheeler, the interim executive director of the National Science Teachers Association, in Arlington, Va., in an interview. “Two points is certainly nothing to cheer about. If these kids can’t do better in science, our nation is in trouble.”

Update:  The Ed Week blog Curriculum Matters posted a piece focusing on the shortage of students scoring at the advanced level on the test.
