Textbook selection committee filters out anti-evolution material from marine science textbook

The publisher of a marine science textbook being considered for Florida adoption by the state’s grade 9-12 science text selection committee has agreed to remove overtly anti-evolution material after the committee highlighted the materials and insisted on its deletion, according to a story in tomorrow morning’s Orlando Sentinel.

The material set off alarm bells at the Florida Citizens for Science and the National Center for Science Education.  FCS asked Education Commissioner Eric Smith to review the revised text himself before finalizing approval.
