Being a (science) teacher? No, it’s not easy.

An article on the evaluation of teacher preparation programs in Florida by News Service of Florida education reporter Lilly Rockwell (the article is linked here from the North Escambia News) quoted FSU School of Teacher Education Director Larry Scharmann, one of the nation’s leading biology education researchers, talking about the gap between the public perception of the difficulty of teaching well with the reality.  Larry said, “The problem in education is there is a general perception that it is something easy to do…If you have been through it yourself, you should be able to do it. That is simply not the case.”
