Elementary science and national science standards
Curriculum Matters posted an item yesterday about two bits of science education news. One is a commentary published in Education Week that argues for a stronger emphasis on science in early grades – as early as kindergarten. The second was Monday’s closing of the comment period for the NRC draft framework for national science standards. The NRC committee meets next at the beginning of September, and it will be interesting to see how much information they release about the comments they received.
