RTTT Round 2 finalist announcement tomorrow
School Zone is reporting that the US Department of Education will announce the finalists for Round 2 of Race to the Top tomorrow. Florida, which finished fourth in Round 1 in large part because of its state-of-the-art student tracking database, is expected to advance to the final round. The state is asking for $700 million, which would be a large share of the $3.4 billion prize pot.
If Florida advances, Education Commissioner Eric Smith will once again lead a delegation to DC for an oral examination by a panel of judges.
